At Spinning Leaf, weddings hold a truly special place in our hearts. David and Cyndi’s wedding really encapsulated what Spinning Leaf is all about — taking a moment out to be with the people who matter the most to you. The fact that they were so madly in love was just icing on the cake! We were so happy to see them utilize the Mountain View Veranda for a gorgeous reception, that even included a live guitarist for a really romantic feel. The bride was absolutely breathtaking in her halter dress with a dramatic train from DP studios and the groom kept with the Mardi Gras theme in his bold purple shirt!
We loved helping the couple pick out the purple, gold, and green details sprinkled throughout their special day — it was great seeing their personality shine through. The flowers at this wedding were a particular favorite because Sam’s Bright Wedding Club Collection used such an array of different flowers to make their vision come to life. From roses and dianthus to carnations and more, they really helped create a romantic atmosphere that still complemented the theme wonderfully. The reception included a huge heavy hors d’oeuvres created by Spinning Leaf and not only cakes, but cupcakes too (by Sweets of Lake Lure) — and of course, a little Mardi Gras sparkle for decoration!
Spinning Leaf prepared a delicious signature cocktail called “Antoine’s Smile” to help remind the bride and groom of a special trip they once took to New Orleans and a wonderful meal they shared at the drink’s namesake restaurant, Antoine’s.
Antoine’s Smile Cocktail Recipe
1 1/2 ounces calvados
1/2 ounce lemon juice
1/2 ounce simple syrup
Dash of grenadine
Shake with ice and strain into a martini glass. Cheers!
But this wedding was also all about the romance and the personal touches. The Unity Sand Ceremony, the memory table with stunning photos of the couple’s grandparents — it really felt like a group of people who mean the world to each other. We loved learning why they picked the 23rd — the same day as their first date and their proposal — and hearing about how they’ve already started to build a life together. Even their wedding rings were unique to them.
